International Faculty – IRCAD Robotic Colorectal Surgery Course

Dr Ihsan Inan participated as international faculty at the IRCAD Robotic Colorectal Surgery Course in Strasbourg, presenting a robotic suprapubic open-book CME right colectomy technique.

IRCAD – Strasbourg University, France | 10–11 June 2025

Dr Ihsan Inan participated as international faculty in the Robotic Colorectal Surgery Course organised at IRCAD – Institut de Recherche contre les Cancers de l’Appareil Digestif in Strasbourg, one of the world’s leading centres for training in minimally invasive and robotic surgery.

The course gathered an international faculty of recognised experts in robotic colorectal surgery, under the direction of Professor Jacques Marescaux, bringing together surgeons from Europe, Asia and the Americas to discuss advanced techniques in robotic colon surgery.

Participation as faculty at IRCAD reflects recognition within the international community of robotic surgeons and represents a significant academic distinction within specialised training programmes.

Scientific Lecture

During the theoretical session dedicated to robotic colorectal surgery, Dr Inan delivered a lecture entitled:

Simplified suprapubic open-book CME right colectomy.

Robotic CME Right Colectomy

The presentation described a refined robotic approach to right colectomy with complete mesocolic excision (CME) using a suprapubic robotic configuration combined with an open-book exposure strategy.

Optimising Robotic Surgical Technique

The lecture focused on several key aspects of robotic colorectal surgery:

optimisation of anatomical exposure
oncological dissection respecting mesocolic planes
simplification and reproducibility of robotic right colectomy

The presentation was delivered within a scientific session dedicated to advanced robotic colon surgery alongside international leaders in the field.

High-Level International Faculty

The IRCAD robotic colorectal surgery course brought together internationally recognised experts in robotic colon and colorectal surgery, representing leading surgical centres across Europe, Asia and South America.

The programme combined:

advanced theoretical lectures
hands-on robotic training sessions
live tissue laboratory training
interactive discussion of surgical strategies and complications

Such courses play an important role in the dissemination of modern robotic colorectal techniques and contribute to the international harmonisation of minimally invasive colorectal surgery standards.

Academic Engagement

Participation as faculty in IRCAD programmes reflects ongoing involvement in international surgical education and robotic training.

While Dr Inan is widely recognised for expertise in robotic hernia surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction, this invitation also highlights continued engagement in the development and teaching of robotic colorectal surgery techniques within specialised international programmes.

These activities reflect the broader scope of advanced robotic visceral surgery in Geneva.
