Dr Ihsan Inan at IRCAD Strasbourg 2026 – Advanced Abdominal Wall Surgery

Dr Ihsan Inan participated as international faculty at the IRCAD Advanced Course on Inguinal, Ventral and Complex Abdominal Wall Repair, held in Strasbourg, France, from October 1–3, 2026.

The course brought together international experts for advanced training in minimally invasive and robotic abdominal wall surgery, combining scientific lectures, technical discussions and practical surgical education.
Dr Inan delivered a presentation entitled “Closing the Defect in MIS: Alternatives and Sutures”, addressing the evolution of fascial closure techniques and their role in functional abdominal wall reconstruction.
His lecture explored the transition from defect bridging to anatomical reconstruction, emphasising the importance of abdominal wall geometry, tissue characteristics and appropriate suture strategies. Particular attention was given to robotic suturing, progressive fascial approximation and the integration of mesh reinforcement within a comprehensive reconstructive approach.

The central message was that successful abdominal wall reconstruction requires more than closing a defect: it requires restoring functional anatomy.

Dr Inan’s participation reflects his continuing involvement in international surgical education and the advancement of minimally invasive abdominal wall reconstruction.
