Dr Ihsan Inan presented robotic ventral hernia repair and robotic TAR at the Turkish National Hernia Congress.

International Faculty – Turkish National Hernia Congress

Dr Ihsan Inan participated as international faculty at the Turkish National Hernia Congress, presenting robotic ventral hernia repair and robotic TAR techniques in abdominal wall reconstruction.

Dr Ihsan Inan participated as international faculty at the 10th National Hernia Congress of Turkey, organised by the Turkish Hernia Society and held in Antalya.

The congress gathers surgeons specialised in hernia surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction, providing an important scientific platform for the discussion of contemporary operative strategies, technical innovations and evolving standards in minimally invasive and robotic hernia surgery.

Dr Inan’s clinical practice at Geneva Surgery in Geneva focuses on robotic hernia surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction, contributing to the development of minimally invasive surgical approaches for complex abdominal wall pathology.

Invited Lectures on Robotic Abdominal Wall Surgery

During the scientific programme, Dr Inan delivered two invited lectures addressing advanced robotic techniques for abdominal wall reconstruction.

Robotic Ventral TAPP

The first lecture explored the role of the robotic transabdominal preperitoneal approach (rTAPP) in ventral hernia repair.

The presentation discussed patient selection, operative strategy and the advantages of placing a large preperitoneal mesh reinforcement through a minimally invasive approach.

Robotic platforms allow precise dissection of the preperitoneal space and facilitate anatomical reconstruction while preserving the advantages of robotic minimally invasive hernia surgery.

Robotic TAR - Strategy, Indications and Future Perspectives

The second lecture focused on robotic transversus abdominis release (rTAR) and its role in complex abdominal wall reconstruction.

The presentation addressed the strategic indications for TAR and emphasised that the primary objective of the procedure is the restoration of the abdominal midline combined with the placement of a large extraperitoneal mesh reinforcement.

The lecture also discussed evolving concepts such as the Madrid modification, selective indications for TAR and the importance of avoiding unnecessary escalation when alternative robotic approaches such as rTAPP or eTEP may achieve equivalent reconstruction with less tissue disruption.

International Exchange in Abdominal Wall Surgery

The Turkish National Hernia Congress brings together surgeons actively involved in abdominal wall reconstruction, minimally invasive surgery and robotic hernia repair, fostering international exchange of expertise and discussion of emerging surgical concepts.

Participation in such scientific meetings contributes to the ongoing evolution of robotic hernia surgery and supports collaboration between specialised surgical centres.

Clinical experience presented during the congress reflects the continued development of robotic hernia surgery at Geneva Surgery in Geneva, where advanced minimally invasive techniques are applied to abdominal wall reconstruction and complex hernia repair.
